HBLA Inc. is a landscape architecture firm with over 24 years specializing in site planning and design of evidence informed, therapeutic landscapes and gardens for healthcare and wellness related projects in the Northeast. The firm is committed to the art and science of garden design and improving health outcomes. Recognizing all gardens are NOT inherently therapeutic and in fact, can actually cause harm, the firm's design process is grounded in an ongoing, vigorous, literature review process incorporating latest research in order to assure successful health outcomes. Further, recognizing the high cost of delivering healthcare, HBLA is committed via specialization to the cost effective inclusion of nature and maximizing return on investment. To this core passion the firm's President and Founder Rob Hoover, advocates for, writes, researches, teaches and lectures throughout the United States. To this core commitment, Rob personally applies his 30 years of professional experience to each and every project. Nationally recognized for its leadership in this field, HBLA's work has won numerous awards and has been exhibited internationally at the European Reminiscence Network Conference in London, England.

Established in 1987 as Studio LA, the firm relocated in 1999 from Portland, Maine to Portsmouth, New Hampshire. In 2001 the firm officially changed its name to HBLA Inc. Today, the firm designs three types of evidence informed, archetypal "healing" gardens, meditation, therapeutic and rehabilitation. Landscapes and gardens range from an intimate 20 x 20 square foot urban meditation garden to a 500 acre continuous care retirement community encompassing intensive site engineering, a pond of approximately 4 acres and all three garden types. HBLA projects include Hospitals, Continuous Care Retirement Communities, Green Initiative Cottages, Assisted Living Facilities including Skilled Care, Nursing Homes, Hospice Homes, Rehabilitation Centers, Alzheimer's Facilities including other forms of dementia, Veteran Homes, Wellness Centers, Wellness Trails, Public Parks, Medical Office Buildings, Schools and private clients. The firm is licensed throughout the Northeast and with the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Board, CLARB.
